Failed Robbery - Investigation
Project Overview:
This project is an environmental storytelling level set in a subway station after a failed bank robbery.
The player takes the role of a detective and investigates the scene by following clues left in the environment to understand how the event unfolded.
The main goal was to design a level that communicates narrative through layout, props, and visual cues without relying on cutscenes.
Level Layout:
The level is designed as a guided linear experience with a branching section in the middle.
It begins in an open station space and leads to a key event (derailed train) that establishes the scenario. The mid-section introduces three routes, encouraging exploration while using environmental cues to guide the player toward the correct path.
The later part of the level becomes more focused, leading the player through key story beats including the gunfight area, maintenance room, vault breach, and final escape route.



Design Approach:
The focus was on creating clear and readable environmental storytelling supported by strong player guidance.
I used visual cues such as footprints, damage, prop placement, and lighting direction to guide the player and communicate events.
Multiple routes were introduced to create a sense of investigation, while maintaining flow using subtle guidance techniques.
The level was iterated based on feedback to improve clarity, readability, and overall player understanding of the narrative.
